TESTIMONIALS
From some of our happy Pod-Wicks customers
Pod-wicks have made it possible for me to keep my isopods safe and in environments that are crucial for their health and wellbeing. Pod-wicks take the guessing out of the too much too little battle. Peace of mind is worth every penny!
I also recommend giving the ports a go as well. I love that I can do maintenance without even disturbing my isopods.
Less stress= More mancae!

I initially purchased a small quantity of podwicks to test them out, and immediately noticed a benefit to my routine of isopod care. Having over 80 species means a lot of watering. Normally I would spray the moss and use a condiment bottle to water down the sides. With a dryer substrate, surface tension can prevent absorption of water leading to build up of droplets or rivulets that can be harmful to your little land crustaceans, even drowning them. With podwicks, that eliminated this concern completely. It also helps to more evenly distribute the water to prevent over saturation of moisture in the substrate. By filling the reservoir with water I always know exactly how much I am putting in. I have since purchased 50 more podwicks and placed them in a majority of my isopod bins. They do add up in cost but it was worth it for the benefits! Pros: Watering is quicker/more efficient. Even distribution of water from the bottom up to prevent drowning. Consistent watering technique to manage humidity and moisture gradient. Cons: if you have over 80 species it gets costly.
Definitely recommend this product for your isopod bins or bioactives!

I ordered a podwicks 10oz with 2 wicks and a fill hose a month ago. I put It in a bioactive snake enclosure so I didn’t have to disturb the snake, decor, or the isopods. It has worked fabulously! I add water about every 3ish days, along with dumping the water bowl, and my zebras and springtails are doing great! This is exactly what I needed, and will definitely be ordering more once my next enclosure gets

“The Podwicks have made it easier to add water to the substrate without the worry of drowning the babies. It adds water to the substrate from the bottom up and slower then traditional spraying. I have them in many of my bins, and will have them in all my bins eventually. I definitely recommend them!”

Living in the desert makes it extremely difficult to maintain a consistent moisture gradient for my isopods – I’m still new to the hobby and getting the environment “just right” for them has been a challenge! Derek’s Pod-Wicks have drastically improved the conditions in my bins! I’m able to add a sufficient amount of water to the substrate without flooding; they allow a gradual dispersion deep into the substrate without the risk of drowning burrowing babies or over-saturating the substrate.
I also added larger Pod-Wicks to my tortoise’s enclosure to increase moisture for the tortoise and his isopod cleanup crew. Derek customized the Pod-Wicks to fit the enclosure and substrate-depth, and he was extremely patient with all my questions and special requests. I highly recommend contacting Derek to get the perfect Pod-Wicks for your enclosures – you won’t be disappointed!

I messaged Derek when I first saw his wonderful Pod Wicks invention. He was amazing to agree to create a variation for me with 3 “legs” which is perfect for my setups. They certainly relieve the concerns of drowning mancae especially with burrowing species. The wicking over several minutes is much better than having to flood corners! Thanks Derek!
